Presentations

Authors of accepted papers are required to present their paper to the community. There are two forms of presentation at ICED'09: Podium Presentations and Elevator Pitch Presentations. All accepted papers have identical requirements and will be published in the same fashion at full length in the proceedings. All papers will also receive ISSN numbers. The difference between the two presentation formats is the ratio of discussion and presentation time:
- In podium presentation sessions, each presentation will be allotted 15 minutes presentation time followed by 5 minutes of discussion. There will be 4 presentations per session and this is the style you have experienced many times. Instructions for podium presentation presenters and chairs are available here.
- The elevator presentations are Silicon Valley style: 5 minutes are alloted as presentation time to make the point and catch the audience's interest and 10 minutes are alloted for extensive discussion. Each session will consist of 6 papers, which results in a total of 30 minutes presentation time and 60 minutes of discussion time. It is the intent of these sessions to further the exchange between researchers with similar interests. The format should allow for an unprecedented amount of interaction and learning together with the other presenters. Instructions for elevator pitch presenters and chairs are available here.
No PowerPoint templates will be provided. You are expected to present from your own computer using a VGA connector for video and mini-plug for audio. Please check-in with your session chair at least 20 minutes before the start of your session and test your setup to ensure all embedded video etc. works in the room as expected. Due to tight schedule of the conference, there is no time for technical glitches during the presentation session and authors with problems will forfeit their chance to present.
Posterball
All conference participants are encouraged to share their ideas, work, and results from all walks of design life with the ICED'09 community. The "Posterball Session" on Tuesday afternoon is a special opportunity to do so. You are invited to show posters and hardware, tell stories, put on a display of dance, or dream up other ways to get your message across. This unique session is brought to you by the "Design Entrepreneuring Lab."
No templates or guidelines that would confine your creativity are given. The only rule for sharing something in this session is that you must register for it in the registration system. You can do so at the time of registration or until 31 July 2009. Please provide a short description of what medium of presentation you plan to use at the time of registration.
If you are sharing a poster based on an accepted paper, we recommend that you include that information on the poster (paper number and presentation day/time).
Please also note that this session will be held outside in a grassy area and that no electricity and limited wireless Internet connectivity is available at the venue. If you have any questions about this, please contact Philipp Skogstad
SIG Workshops
The workshops by the chartered Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of the Design Society have been integrated into the conference for ICED'09. Please see this list for additional details.
