Call for Papers

Points-of-View and Themes

We solicit research papers and case studies on any theme related to design thinking, theory, and practice. We place a premium on evidence-based research. Mindful of earlier conferences in the series we offer the following themes of interest and invite authors to take a specific point-of-view. We anticipate that issues at the intersections will be of particular relevance and interest.

Points-of-View

ICED'09 is centered around offering a multitude of differing perspectives on design. You are encouraged to submit papers written from one of the four points-of-view provided, or alternatively you may design your own specific point-of-view.

Papers should be maximum 12 pages in length and those that are accepted in a double-blind review will be published in the proceedings. At the conference, authors of all accepted papers are given the opportunity to present. The format for presentations will be either "elevator pitch" (a shorter presentation followed by discussion) or "podium presentations" (20 minute presentation followed by discussion). Decision on format is made by the Program Committee and announced with the final program by 15 June 2009. In addition, all authors will be given the option to present in a poster reception.

All papers are due by 15 January 2009 at midnight (Pacific Standard Time). Please note that unlike at previous ICED conferences, there will be no option to submit an abstract before the paper submission.
