The Original Hewlett-Packard Garage

Considered by many to be the birthplace of Silicon Valley. Close to the Stanford Campus. Many people like to go and have their photos taken as they stand on the sidewalk in front of this famous, timeless, yet real Silicon Valley address.

Filoli Gardens

This 654 acre estate garden is a prime example of the Golden Age of American Gardens. Located just a short distance north of Stanford off Highway 280 (The world’s most beautiful highway)

Winchester Mystery House

This complicated, even Byzantine (!) structure is the result of 38 years on non-stop construction under the direction of its owner, Sarah Winchester. Some believe that the building is haunted, and others marvel at the unusual features of the 160 room Victorian mansion. Consider the manpower that went into this house, which was started in 1884, and grew to incredible size and resulted in 47 fireplaces!

New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI)

Fremont, California
At the present time, the excellent NUMMI factory tours are not available, as the facility is retooling and rearranging their manufacturing lines. Check their website for updates – as tours may become available again around the time of ICED ’09.

San Jose Museum of Art

Celebrating their 40th year, the San Jose Museum of Art is recognized for its contemporary collection, which reflects the West Coast contextualized by national and international visual art.
